Summer Strong DC 2018 Programs

Are you ready for summer? Sign up for Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) summer camps and District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) summer schools. Also, find a DC Free Meals site near you!

DC Free Summer Meals Program

Free nutritious meals and snacks are served to children 18 and younger in the District. These meals help children in low-income areas get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months when they are out of school. To find out more information, click here!

Department of Public Works Truck Touch 2018

This event will feature a variety of free activities for kids and adults. A host of DC government agencies will present and demonstrate nearly 30 vehicles used to clean and repair streets, change traffic lights, collect refuse, clear snow, provide emergency services, administer mobile health care, and more. Free boxed lunches will be provided to kids age 18 and under.

When: Saturday, June 30th 8:00am- 1:00pm

Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR)

Sign up for DPR Camps! DPR will offer Summer Camp activities including  swimming, field trips, creative activities and new experiences in the District of Columbia. Please sign up at the DPR Summer camp website.

District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS)

Sign up for DCPS summer school!
Research shows that students who don’t participate in summer learning activities lose ground over the summer compared to peers who do. DCPS offers academic summer programs in order for students to be prepared for the following school year.

DC Public Charter Schools

More than a dozen public charter schools will offer enrichment, credit recovery and summer bridge programming (for new students) this summer. Most summer programs at public charter schools begin in late June. Families should contact individuals schools for sign-up. For more information, please visit

Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP)

The Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program provides District youths ages 14-24 with meaningful summer work experience and support to help them find a career pathway.
